Skellefteå Science City is strengthening its investment in games and creative tech with Anna Drejing-Carroll as its new Business Development Manager. She has built a business in the industry herself and will now help companies in Skellefteå grow.

What will you be working on at Skellefteå Science City?
– I work with business development for games and creative tech companies. My mission is to help game studios and creative technology companies here in the north grow and become stronger businesses. That means coaching on business development and preparing companies for meetings with investors, publishers and clients. A big part of the job is also building networks and meeting places that connect the companies with industry, academia and society.

I’m based at Arctic Game Incubator, and the role is part of the EU collaboration CreativeTech North. The fun part for me is that I’ve built a business in this industry myself, so now I get to help others make the same journey.

What have you worked with before?
– Most recently I worked at Society Expo, where I was responsible for an interactive exhibition at Skellefteå Museum that used immersive technology as a storytelling tool.

Before that, I was a co-owner and head of operations at the game studio Tarvalley, where we expanded the business from games to creative tech solutions with XR, 3D visualization and mocap for clients such as Boliden, Silvermuseet and the Swedish Guides and Scouts (Scouterna).

I also have extensive experience from the communications industry, including as Head of Communications at Skellefteå Municipality and in the design industry in London. So I’ve been the kind of company we’re here to support, and I’m bringing that experience into the role.

Who are you outside of work, and what do you most enjoy doing in your free time?
– In my free time I probably have more hobbies than time. I love gaming, both on my own and with my kids, and watching films. I also work out. In between, I try to fit in something creative of my own when I can, like drawing, painting or writing.

We warmly welcome Anna to Skellefteå Science City and Arctic Game!
