Arctic Game – 2024 in Review
Arctic Game
18 Dec 2024As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on an exciting and impactful year for Arctic Game. From global events to local initiatives, this year showcased the strength and innovation of northern Sweden’s games industry. Here’s a look back at some key highlights:
National and international presence
We kicked off the year by representing northern Sweden at some of the world’s most influential events, including Nordic Game in Malmö, GDC in San Francisco, Gamescom in Cologne, and the newcomer for this year Games Ground in Berlin. Our delegations opened new business opportunities and strengthened ties between northern Sweden and the global games industry.
Knowledge and competence
The Arctic Game Masterclass series started this year, delivering high-quality training and workshops. This year’s highlights included “Community Building” with Supercell and “Live Service Games” with Luis Cascante. These sessions provided invaluable insights from global industry experts, empowering local developers to take their skills to the next level.
Events that unite the industry
Throughout the year, we organized several impactful events that brought people together and created new opportunities. Highlights include the Arctic Game Global Game Jam in Jörn, becoming the third-largest event of its kind in Sweden, and Boden Game Changer in Boden, the annual conference that showcases the future and potential of the games industry in northern Sweden.
Regional development and collaboration
Arctic Game has continued to grow through our work in the four municipalities of Skellefteå, Umeå, Luleå, and Boden. Our local project managers have worked closely with companies to deliver tailored initiatives that promote innovation and growth. To further strengthen community ties and collaboration, we hosted networking events such as Arctic Game Breakfast, Arctic Game Studio Lunch, and Arctic Game Dev Night, creating valuable opportunities for local developers and studios to connect and share insights.
A historic step in the Swedish Parliament
One of the year’s highlights was when Arctic Game took the stage in the Swedish Parliament. By participating in the seminar on game culture, we put northern Sweden’s game development on the national agenda and demonstrated the region’s potential to contribute to Sweden’s games industry.
