Arctic Game Week 2021 is cancelled

Despite less restrictions concerning Covid-19, Arctic Game Lab has decided to cancel Arctic Game Week 2021, which should have been in the end of October. This means that the Arctic Game Conference, Fantastic Conference and Nordsken are cancelled, as well as all other events that would have taken place in connection with these.

Covid-19 has caused too much uncertainty which made the planning more difficult. The possibility to arrange an event with the quality we wanted have therefore not existed. The board of Nordsken take the same conclusions, which together means that we choose to cancel the event in 2021, and instead put all our energy into creating a really good event in May 2022.

– The ambitions for Arctic Game Week are high and we want to be an industry-leading meeting place where the game industry can meet, create new networks and do business. At the same time, the event is closely linked to Nordsken, where the private market and the industry can meet. The whole week, with all its side events, is so important that we do not want to risk doing something half-way, says Daniel Wilén, cluster manager at Arctic Game Lab.

The covid-restrictions has lead to difficulties to attract both national, but especially international, lecturers and partners to the event due to too much uncertainty.

Although Arctic Game Week as a whole is canceled, some smaller events will still be held during the autumn. Including:

  • BSGI investor workshop: an investor event to increase seed and pre-seed investments in the gaming industry and increase knowledge about investing in gaming companies
  • Femme Jam – a normfluid game jam: A game jam that is aimed at under-represented groups in the gaming industry, such as women, cis and trans and non-binary people.
  • A smaller regional conference for the game companies in the Arctic Game Lab region will be arranged.-
